Why Is It Important To Create Valuable Content?
I'm sure you've heard it over and over, I know I have.
"Bring value to the marketplace, and you'll achieve all your dreams".
Two questions come to mind 1) Why? and 2) What is valuable content?
Why Is Valuable Content Important?
Why is it so important to bring valuable content to the marketplace? What are we really trying to achieve?
Put simply - Valuable Content = Traffic = CA$H
That's right, and I know it sounds a little crude, but that's the whole point of creating content. If your content solves a problem or answers a question, or in whatever way provides a solution to the receiver of the content, you can turn that into cash. Unless of course your purpose for providing content is strictly humanitarian which is fine. But me....show me the money.
So what are the mechanics?
By creating valuable content in the form of an article, video, webinar, podcast, ebook, etc. several things can take place. By simply creating one piece of content you can create a residual flow of traffic to your site or marketing system. You are also able to generate generic back links that are much better than links created with paid methods.
Let me give you an example. A couple of years ago I was upgrading my iPhone to the new software at the time, version 3.0. What I didn't realize was that it had a bug or two...lol.
OMG....it took me hours just to get my phone working again. After I did I posted an article on my blog on how to restore your phone when you've attempted to upgrade to version 3.0. To date that's still my most popular article. Now if I had a blog specific to the iPhone that would be great...but I don't, so be careful what you post.
Again TRAFFIC can equal money, as long as the traffic is targeted.
So what type of content do we create? Find a niche!
First we have to choose a market. An example of a market would be golf or the iPhone. Within that huge market there can be dozens or hundreds of niches. Let's examine a few in the golf market.
- golfers that travel
- left-handed golfers
- senior golfers
- let your imagination run wild
This information is nothing new. If you've been looking to succeed as a marketer online you're familiar with this concept to the point of exhaustion. Do your research, find a niche, create content, and drive traffic. The sad truth is, it takes time and consistent effort over time.
A side benefit of creating truly valuable content is the fact that you are branding yourself as a leader in that niche. I always thought you branded cattle, but I guess branding yourself is critical as well.
Before diving into keyword research (a future article), let's look at some of the methods you can use to generate traffic and brand yourself as an expert in your niche.
- Article Marketing
- Blogging
- Creating videos, webinar recordings, or power point presentations
- Forum posts
- Press releases
- Social content syndication through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.
- Link wheels or link hubs
So let's back up a second and look at the flow or steps in the process.
So what exactly is valuable content? Put simply content that fills a need. It could be someone looking for a bit of information on the topic. For example, they may be searching for the best brand of left-handed golf clubs and you've just done a video on 3 different brands and you've given your recommendation. You've helped solve a problem...that's valuable content.
What stops us from creating valuable content? Time & Effort!
The pitfalls that come into play are many. We're all geared for instant gratification, and this by no means brings that. This is a long slow process, but followed over time can be quite rewarding.
Another pitfall is the simple fact that many people don't have the necessary skills to pull this off. Look at it this way. If you were going to school to become a doctor, how much time and money would you have to expend? Years and thousands of dollars, all for what reason? The opportunity to benefit others and make an above average income. How many of those early years while going through school would you earn an income? ZERO.
Network marketing or online marketing can afford an incredible income if you put out the time and effort to develop the mindset and skills to succeed.
