Link Tracking: A Look At tr.im
It’s been said “if you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it” or something to that effect.
Tracking your marketing efforts online can be a real chore, especially for the newbie or computer challenged. There are a large number of link shortening, link tracking sites out there like bit.ly, budurl, and a host of others.
Recently I began using one called tr.im. One of the features I love about it, is the fact that it trys to filter out bots that also are hitting your link.
Basically a bot is a computer robot that sits out there and tracks links on the internet for the purpose of discovering linkbacks and trackbacks to sites that helps with getting you better rankings with google and such.
Tr.im tries to filter for those so you get a little better idea of real humans visiting your site.
Another cool feature, which some of the others have, is the ability to put a side panel on your desktop so you can watch your traffic on links you’ve created. (see photo)

It auto refreshes and has additional links that will show you stats for past 7 days, the ability to tweet the link again.
Not super stats, but a real down and dirty, and very simple way to track marketing links.
I’m liking it. You may too.
