As always the purpose of this blog post is to share marketing tips and marketing techniques that I am learning on my journey.
One of the most critical components of any business you choose to work with is the compensation plan. Why? Because you're not doing this for free. For the most part you won't see a lot of new things out there. I know, you've been told that the company you're looking at has the best comp plan under the sun, and it has some new newfangled hybrid whatchamacallit that will make you a gazillionaire over night. So let's see how the Poker Training Network comp plan stacks up.

Let's look at comp plans in general, and see what the basics are. I'm not going to go into too much detail, because like me, you can do a simple Google search and read to your heart's content.
Comp plans fall into four basic categories.
- Stairstep, or generational
- Matrix
- Unilevel
- Binary
Now you will hear all day long, depending on who you're talking to, which is better. They all have their strong and weak points. Personally, I think it's best to look to a third party or parties to find out what works best. For years I've followed Rod Cook's info at MLM Watchdog, and he shares a lot of good insight on MLM comp plans.
Let me make a bold statement here. Your company comp plan doesn't matter a bit if you can't sell the product. Did you get that?

Poker Training Network Uses A Binary Comp Plan
PTN, the Poker Training Network uses a binary comp plan. A big plus with a binary plan is the potential for what is termed "spillover". Spillover should never be spoken of as a guarantee, but it can play a big role in your success, especially if you are part of a strong team. However, as always, your success is totally determined by you.
The Poker Training Network - PTN has a somewhat typical binary plan, but it also has some nice nuances.
Earning money with PTN is fairly simple. PTN Affiliates sell a sport, poker, as a product and are generously rewarded in five different ways:

* Retail Commissions - this is the commission earned on your personal sales.
* Team Commissions - this is an over ride commission you earn on the sales volume of your team
* Matching Bonuses - this is a bonus paid to you based upon the earnings of those you personally enroll
* Global Leadership Pools - a percentage of total revenue that is shared with sales and team leaders
* 3rd Party Sponsorship and Advertising Revenue Sharing - here is what is unique. PTN will be generating income from ad revenue and sponsorships of poker events. This revenue will be shared with the field.
The general concept with a binary is the "power of two". You only have a left and right team, so for you to build your primary team simply requires you to enroll two affiliates. If you enroll more than two they are placed under your left or right team resulting in spillover.
This can create a tremendous amount of excitement. I've already begun experiencing this, and I can tell you...it's very motivating.
The thing to keep in mind, not only with PTN but with any direct sales company...it's all about the product. If you can't sell what you have to offer, then no comp plan is going to pay you.
