Why I’m Searching For The Perfect Plan B
When marketing online, staying focused is key.
As always the purpose of this blog post is to inform you of marketing tips and marketing techniques that I am learning on my journey.
A total of 1.6 million jobs was lost in the 1990-1991 recession, before the economy began turning around and jobs began increasing; and we lost a total of 2.7 million jobs in the 2001 recession, before the economy began turning around and jobs began increasing. So far over the past 15 months we've lost almost 4 millions jobs and we haven't hit bottom yet.
Do I have your attention?
How good do you think the people who decided this time last year to put their Plan B in motion are feeling? Pretty good if their plans are working at all.
Unemployment is always a threat. The stock market is in the tank. Entire industries are laying people off.
Warren Buffet has been quoted as saying this downturn could last as much as 8 years.
Are you worried about being affected? Maybe you have been already. What would happen if you were without an income for 4 weeks? 8 weeks? 16 weeks? 52? Scary isn't it. Now is the time to do something about it.
I am.
If you run out of money in a slow economy, you will suffer. And quite frankly my JOB is totally affected by the economy. The company I work for is saying that our only customer is cutting back by almost 50% on it's expansion plans for 2009. So yes I will be affected.
So you've got a great job right? You feel like you're recession proof, but guess what, it doesn't matter what your job is, in a weak economy the rules change. If they find someone faster than you...cheaper than you...guess what, you're out the door.
So what are your options?
1) Get a second job
Good luck on finding one. There are so many people right now looking for a first job, that your chances are slim to none.
2) Sit back and do nothing
Relax...you've got money socked back in a 401k or an IRA. Have you looked at what it's worth lately? If the market goes down the tubes so goes your money.
3) Start your own business
Let's see...you'll have to find a building, get some furniture, put in a phone system, order products...oh yeah...what about employees? And don't forget 95% of the time startup businesses fail.
Okay, how about buying a franchise, a proven system. Marketing tools, training, proven products, and distribution. Great option if you've got a few hundred thousand laying around.
Starting a business from scratch is a hard task.
If you're like most folks with a JOB (just over broke) you don't have that option. Owning your own business is the only way to put yourself back in control of your life.
The folks playing golf on a Thursday afternoon, or fishing with their kids during the week...probably own their own business. Not always but often. Folks driving the luxury cars and taking the extended vacations. Quite often small business owners.
Our country was founded on freedom but built on small business. Owning your own business, being your own boss, that is the American dream. In fact the concept of huge masses of people going of to the "job camps" is a fairly new concept.
So what are the options for the average person? What kind of business can we get involved in if we don't have the money to invest in a brick and mortar business? There are still several options, but I'll just highlight a few.
1) Create your own product and learn the skills necessary to market it online.
2) Become an affiliate marketer and market products developed by others.
3) Find an MLM or Network Marketing company with a product you believe in. In other words you would be a customer anyway. In fact, hopefully you were a customer first
There are other options, but the ones I've mentioned require little or no investment to get started, and depending on who you work with can require little or no training. It will require a deep commitment on your part to learn the necessary skills to succeed.
Keep in mind, you have the same chance of failing as you do with a traditional business. If you aren't commited to gaining the necessary knowledge and skill, you'll more than likely fail. In fact a good 80% or more of folks who sign up as an affiliate marketer or join a network marketing company never earn a check.
But here's the difference. Sock down a few hundred grand for a failed franchise....OUCH. Plop down a few hundred bucks to try and create a new life for yourself...OKAY.
Now, if you're needing a paycheck tomorow...or you can't afford anything, then I'm sorry, it may already be too late.
Also remember, that the whole point of a Plan B is to provide extra money, and give you the possibility of trading your real JOB for a dream job.
Like Zig Ziglar says, "Money isn't everything, but it's right up there with air".
Money changes the cars you drive. The place you live. The vacations you take. The clothes you wear. The schools your children attend.
More money simply gives you more options.
Isn't it worth the effort to try and own your own life? You know if the alarm clock wakes you up...you weren't ready to get up yet.
Join me in taking the plunge to take control of your life.
YOU CAN DO IT!
